The purpose of the Alchemy film was too illustrate what the jewellery represents as a whole, with an importance placed on the mythology behind the materials used.
The film conveys the feeling of an outsider’s ‘presence’, trying to get a glimpse into the world of these surreal blonde twins, who possess a dark innocence. At first the girls are weary of this presence watching, but then allow it observe them. The rituals they perform, and the small world that is created within the house, are a mixture of concepts based around earthly magic. The film is not set in a definite period or place and creates the sense that there is an unexplained, mystical value behind the jewellery, but not in a light fairy tale way. It combines a bright and soft appearance with an ominous, offset undertone.
