Disappearance will be presented on the MIFF in Cannes

The film project “Disappearance” will be presented on the MIFF in Cannes.

On the 28th of January  the second pitching of debutants took place. The event went with a support of the Youth Filmmaking centre of Russia and ROSKINO. Within the projects that have got a support of expert jury is a feature length film by Timofey Zhalnin

II питчинг дебютантов 28 января 2014 годаOn the 28th of January 2014 the first feature length project “Disappearance” by Timofey Zhalnin took part in the second pitching of debutants organized by National Academy of Cinema Art and Science in Russia and Cinema Filmmaking Union.

 

Only ten motion pictures selected from more than 200 submissions took part in the event and as the result the film has got a special money prize from the Cinema Filmmaking Union in Russia.

But it is not the end: cinema company ROSKINO gave the film an opportunity to be presented on Russian pavilion on the International Cannes Film Festival -2014 in France!

The first draft name for the film was “The Wood”. The main character Andrey has once committed a compromise with his conscience and has got married for building a successful career. He and his wife Vika have got lost in Taiga. Extreme circumstances make the characters fight for their moral and physical surviving. As the result they got know each other much better and found true love within them.

The film is based on the real story that once happened in Siberian Taiga. The shootings will take place in West Sayans next summer. The film is supported by the Youth Filmmaking Centre of Russia, Vkontakte, ROSKINO, GLAVKINO, StarLand and others.

  • A special prize from the cinema school “Cinema Artery” went to Yaroslav Zhalnin (“Girls”)
  • A certificate for a master class by Alexander Nosovskiy from Alexander Mitta’s cinema school went to Konstantin Fam (“The Violin”)
  • A studying certificate from scriptwriting workshop Teamwriting went to Elena Vahrusheva (“From 10 To The Infinity”)
  • A cycle of video classes from international and local filmmakers of MacGuffin went to Elena Vahrusheva (“From 10 To The Infinity”)
  • Robert McKee’s book “Story: A Guide To Screenwriting” from the publishing house “Alpina” went to Artem Tsaregorodtzev (“My main role”)

  • Vera Sumenova – a president of The Higher Courses For Directors and Scriptwriters;
  • Boris Tokarev – a director, a producer, a general manager of the “Debut” studio;

The first pitching was last year. It successfully supported a lot of perspective project of young filmmakers.

441 requests (223 feature length films and 208 short ones) were made for the participating in the second debutant pitching. 10 projects in short film section and 10 feature length projects were selected.
