China International New Media Short Film Festival opens its international market.

From the 25th to the 30th of November in Chinese city Shenzhen the “World Of Festivals” company will present a booth of Russian motion pictures on the International Chinese Cinema Market.

 

The 7th China International New Media Short Film Festival (CSFF) will take place in Chinese city Shenzhen from the 25th to the 30th of November. It is the only admitted international short film festival in China.
 
Based in 2010 the CSFF festival is aimed on recognizing and awarding new distinguished short films of Chinese and international production; the searching and support of new talents on television and cinema industry, a development of new media, international cultural exchange and co-production of different countries.

During the past 6 years of its existence CSFF widened the sphere of its influence. Bringing around 10 000 of short films from more than 100 countries across the world China International New Media Short Film Festival has become one of the most important short film festivals admitted by Chinese and international cinema industry; and one of three cinema-and-television events gotten an international recognition alongside with such huge Chinese festivals as Beijing International Film Festival and Shanghai International Film festival..

The main events of China International New Media Short Film Festival (CSFF) will take place on the period from the 25th to the 30th of November, 2016, in the city of Shenzhen. It will include an opening ceremony, film viewings and also the first International cinema market in the history of the festival.

The first deal of holder’s rights’ selling was committed on the 4th China International New Media Short Film Festival.
For all these years the festival has been gathering experience and now, on the 7th year of its life, CSFF opens cinema market aimed to bring attention of different cinema industry figures from all over the world and also to give an opportunity for authors and distributors to present their works. It is also a good opportunity for sales agents to get the rights to perspective films.
A cinema market is aimed at emphasizing on video content with visual effects and virtual reality technologies.
The video content will be presented both online and offline.

Speaking of cinema markets, the most famous ones are, for sure, American Film Market (AFM), Cannes Marche Du Film, Venice Film Market, Berlin’s EFM, Sundance Film Festival’s Market(Sundance Film Festival), and MIPTV and MIPCOM; but recently Asian markets have started to grow.

Big sales agents, searching for interesting pictures, quite often attend Hong Kong Film Market, come to Shanghai, Asian Cinema Market in Busan (Korea) or Cinema Market on the International Film Festival in India, Goa.

China stands far from the last place in the international cinema industry, showing good results in cinema theatres, taking parts in co-production with other countries and collaborating with other cinema makers from all over the world.
 
China and Russia have special relationships in cinema collaboration.
For example, during the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) in June 2016 an agreement about strategy collaboration between the countries was signed. It appeals to strengthen the connection between our countries. More than 150 films from 25 countries were presented on the festival, including a special program “Laurels for Russian Films”. The festival also included cinema market, presentations and forums for cinema industry’s figures. The best Russian motion pictures of the past years were included in the program to show the achievements of Russian cinematography to Chinese audience.

With the same goal of strengthen an international cultural collaboration in the cinema sphere a special Russian Film Festival was organized in Beijing and Xian.

The festival was supported by The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. On this year edition of China International New Media Short Film Festival “The World Of Festivals” company is bringing the catalogue of the best short and feature-length motion pictures.

For 7 years the company has been helping both young and independent authors and professional studios to attend international and Russian film festivals.
During this period of time our films have participated in more than 1000 different festivals and awarded more than 300 prizes.
The motion pictures of our director partners were presented in the official selection of Cannes Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF), Clermont Ferrand, Cairo International Film Festival, Palm Springs, Sundance and etc.

“A Wardrobe Lady” – a graduation work by Ekaterina Golubeva-Poldi – will also go to Chinese market.

For the first time the film was released on the biggest Russian festival – Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) in June, 2016. The short film was successful, won several awards on other festivals. .

The director of the film, Ekaterina Golubeva-Poldi, commented her participation on Chinese market with the following words:

“I am very happy to present our film on such a big event like this. Nothing unites people as much as art and cinema. This film touches a very important subject for me as a director. It tells us about the power of a single mean word. And it is not just a fable, it is a tale about evil giving a birth to nothing but evil. Let’s love each other and share kindness!”

A special mark goes to the films by Tatyana Voronetskaya, “Archipelago” and «“Metamorphosis”. She is not only a producer of the films but also a general manager of the “Rossfilm” company. Notably, the “Rossfilm” company founded an international festival “East & West. Classic and Avant-garde” that will be celebrating its 10th birthday next year. .

“East & West. Classic and Avant-garde” takes place in one of the oldest cities of Russia, Orenburg, which has collected more than 126 nationalities, 278 religious houses and 20 confessions within its territory. The film festival is aimed at films Co-Production. It is one of the drivers of the united humanitarian space’s building and the role model of a strong upon-national union. It can become one of the main poles of the modern cinematography and to play a role of a reliable strong union of countries of Asian region, South Africa and Latin America. During nine years of the festival’s existence more than 85 countries from all over the world have participated in it. The festival is an open project that is awaiting for new partners, especially from the countries of Eurasia, SCO and BRIC. Such a union, according to the words of the organizers, will let achieve the success in the integration sphere of the inter-cultural collaboration.
